Oh it is and really comftable to be inside of it and not hear anything but the humble of an exhaust I LOVE MY NEW EVO! Thats one of the main reason i opted for a stock /fun daily driver and leave my RX7 for the weekends and race events.
You guys that been around evo's for a while will of course say they are loud but when you come from rotaries to something so quiet you start to question every noise.
My EVO has dynomat installed in the front and rear- the previous owner loved his music. So it isnt that loud its just a vibration /whining that i can even feel with my foot.
Oh this too when i lift off and let the car cruise there no more noises or vibrations. So this is only happening under load.
Uhmm yeah....
481 whp Garrett T70 Large streetport ROTARY so trust me guys I know noise when I hear it.

Put it like this on my Mercedez Ml320 i use to be able to hear the valves tick just a bit too much for my comfort and I simply changed the wight of my oil just so i dint have to hear it. I like to be fast and loud when I am in RX7 but when i am relaxing ,commuting, or driving my daughter around I like a toned out running car.

I think you are the first person ever to describe the evo in the way you just have. The car is far from a relaxing and comfortable ride IMO. You want comfortable and relaxing get a 7 series bmw, evo is like on the opposite end of the spectrum, probably just short of your track rx7...

To me what i think it feels like is a diff is bad. I say that because I have broken 3 Diffs already on my rx7 and when they are starting to go they whinn but its loud and you can hear the grinding. This noise i am hearing is super light but I want to make sure everything is good because I am driving across country in it!
then if you think the diff is going bad then take it in to get it checked out. without actually hearing the noise and really knowing the circumstances on recreating the noise it's hard for someone to tell you what's wrong. You asked if it was normal or if you should worry. I'd say from my own experience with my car that it's probably normal, but i think it's better to be safe then sorry and just have it checked out next time you go in for service.

Yeah mines doesnt sound no where near that..wooooo
When it started doing that noise was it a on and off whining /vibration or did it start whining like that and just got loude over time?
Thanks for the input that just eased my mind a bit. You guys are helping me alot, man my uncle ,cousins and friends are all making bets how long till I give in and swap out the turbo add bigger injectors and give it some new brains. Coming from the KILO Racing family if you are driving a piston powered car it better be a truck..lol I broke the ice.

sweet I got a pm from the previous owner and he said these cars are critical when using tires that suck. I have generals on the stock evo 9 bbs wheels and they seem like good tires but then again i never heard of them. I couldnt swap the wheels today because of work keeping me but I will definately do it tomorrow then test drive the car like that.

Yeah I always used Falken azenis and ziex models, for slicks i use mickey thompsons always with moroso draggies for the front. I havent tried any other name brands mainly because all the cars I have besides the evo tend to eat them all up...lol if you know what i mean
When I use to live in japan i used to get advans and yokahamas dirt cheap, but ever since the jdm craze good luck finding a set of them for under $800 new
