Can this setup make 400whp!

Hi all! The car in question is an MY03. Stock longblock,TXS TBE,TXS FMIC,780cc injectors,255lph pump and a great tune. She already makes 331whp/345wtq at 22psi. I was told by a very reputable company that I should have no issues seeing 400whp on 93oct (No meth, no E85) by adding a IX turbo and 272 cam package with springs and retainers. Yet I have seen no evidence to support this. Car is DD as well, so I don't want to overly stress any single component (ie.the turbo is my concern) to acheive that number. If a larger turbo, let's say 20g, will do it without the cams, I think that I would rather do that. Any ideas or suggestions?

you're going to need meth if you're using the stock IX turbo. Greens by themselves had trouble reaching the 400 mark but they did come close.

I think you should be able to see 400 without meth on a IX turbo. How are you tuning and what dyno is this on?

My friend is close to 400 whp with the same setup but tuned DD on E85 so on 93 oct I would say you would be in the 380whp rang...

Using Ecuflash for tuning. And more than likely a Dynojet. Last time it was dynoed, it was on a DynaPak.

It's starting to look like an FPred or other 20g variation will be on the ticket. I would like to compare the power band from the 9 turbo/cam setup to just a 20g. I know the top end will be better on the 20g. But it is a DD. So spool and midrange power will be more useful.

evenifyou get close on your stocker the 20g turbos that are on the market today all provide at least a solid 30 whp while losing almost no spool and gaining midrange you literally cant go wrong
on your stock 9 turbo MOST are maxing out at 360whp on a good tune on pump gas thats a very good tune and a dynojet number go with a fp turbo or bbk you wont regrett it.

you can make 380 on stock turbo on pump, but 400 wih just bolt ons wont do it,,,, get the green and thats a different story, plus with the green you will be able to make that power easier, flows better, less stress on the engine

no point in getting a 9 turbo or a green. waste of money. you need meth/achl to get the stock turbo in the 400 and thats pushing it hard. I never seen or read a stock turbo in the 400 with just bolt on on 93 at all. I know the green can do it with alot of work plus it cost 1695 might as well just get a Red and start out in the 400 range easy with bolt ons. look at the price difference now you can get 9 turbos for 400 all day in the for sale threads. red 1799 might as well just save up alittle

So it's sounding like need to scrap the cam idea for now and just get a FPred or equivalent. Is this the general consensus?

Cams plus FP Red or BBK-Full. Done deal. Get the exhaust manifold, throttle body, and intake manifold ported and don't forget a decent O2 housing. No need to go catless, just get a high flow.

yea its not really to hard to get to 400whp. Just make sure you get a great tune and like said above 02 housing, TBE, ported manny, ported Fp red, ported intake, 65mm t/b some type of short ram intake.Dont really need cams on evo 9 but 8 you do. might as well get a licp for better spool walbro 255 Fuel pump, Some type of MBC, Boost gauge, Air fuel gauge, bigger Upgraded intercooler. now thats probaly over kill what i just stated might want to throw some injectors if you really want.

Way OVERCOOKED but 400whp recipe easy

FORCE PREFORMACE GREEN
FORCE PREFORMACE RED

http://www.forcedperformance.net/merchant2/

here is the link to the turbochargers basically a STOCK LIKE appearing turbo that retains the spool characteristics of the stock turbo but puts down way more power then the stocker ever could. the Red is the newest in the line up. can net you up to 525 whp with the right mods. thats 35r starting power. those things cost up to 4500 while the red cost 1799. of course the 35r is a bigger turbo and cant get you up there in the hp bracket but slower spool.
