Thanks! Only bad part is its freaking cold and snowy outside, which is going to make this a freazing wet mess. I need to invest in garage heater or something...

I bought the complete Buschur turbo back exhaust. I dont know what the individual price would be. You should contact Jrod@Bushurracing for price quotes.

I've had that exhaust already. The Cobb was slightly quieter than the RRE.

I can confirm that. The RRE is not as quiet as people think.

Good luck on your project. I can't wait to "hear" your results.

Thanks. I think its becaues of the magnaflow muffler RRE uses. I tapped on RRE's magnaflow muffler and the Cobb's muffler and noticed the Cobb sounded/felt more densly packed. I dont really like the magnaflow mufflers because most dont seem that well packed with sound deadening material. They sound hollow when tapped on. The vibrant muffler I got seems densly packed and I trust it will do a good job.

I was originally going to use the Jun BL exhaust that I have for my project. But I was going to need to make more changes than I wanted converting my downpipe to V band, buying and moding the Buschur bullet muffler etc.... So I opted for the Buschur tbe exhaust since its full V-band and only thing I need to do is weld in the Vibrant muffler. But I have to admit, the welds on the Jun BL are a dream. Wow.

Have you tried the "double bullet" buschur exhaust set-up? Some people are running it with much success.

From the first post.
I chose not to run the buschur magnaflow muffler in the rear because in my opinion a widebody muffler will quiet more than a round muffler. (in most cases)

Why did you switch from the Tanabe Medallion Touring? B/c of the taper?

Ah I must have looked over that info in the first post. Well I hope it all works out seeing as I want a quiet system as well. I’m anxious to see how much more the wide body silences the sound for you, by the way great project.

It was fine running it with stock downpipe and catalytic. But when I put a test pipe with still the stock downpipe it was considerably louder. The Cobb as a full turbo back no cat was a lot quieter. The taper was another small reason, but increase in sound is why I got rid of it. But one thing for sure is that as a catback it was very quiet.

Curious to hear/see a sound clip once you have everything installed! I'm wanting to do something very similar as you for my exhaust.

First I will be installing the exhaust then after a week or so I will get the muffler welded in. I wasnt able to work on it this weekend because I got the stomach flu. :-(

I think I'll get an o2 housing while I'm at it. I'm searching whether to go with a ceramic or swain coated one.

You have ran several combinations with both the stock cat and test pipe. Have you tried any combinations using high flow cats? From your experience and testing, where would you say a high flow cat with either the tanabe touring or cobb catbacks would fair for noise level? Say you were using a high flow cat such as perrin's catalyst replacement or similar.

I appreciate any input you may have. Thanks.

With that quote I was referring to the Tanabe being a lot louder running catless with the stock downpipe. The Cobb as a full catless turbo back was a lot quieter than the Tanabe Medallion+testpipe only.

With all honosty I would say the Cobb turbo back exhaust was the most quietest. It was actually very close to as quiet as I want my exhaust to be. But I am in search of possibly making an exhaust even quieter but at the same time to be a V-band flange system.

So if your looking for the most quietest setup out there with no tapers get the Cobb. But remember some of their exhausts have issues with the resonator weld cracking/splitting. You can ask them if they addressed this issue or be prepared in case yours does crack have someone weld over that part.

Why not just insulate the car from the noise? I remember reading on a lexus forum that the LS 400 can remove the mufflers with very little if any additional cabin noise. So big deal if you add a little weight with soundproofing. I am going to try this route because it seems easier than trying to make a quiet exhaust.

hmm what do you guys think would yield better turbo response and maximum hp, 3" turbo back with a 3" high flow cat. or a 3" turbo back with a 3" magnaflow style inline muffler. Im trying to lower my noise output and trying to not decrease my turbo response but i know im goign to sacrifice a little bit.
