opinions on best rods.

Hey guys. I drive a turbo'd 2.4 liter ralliart. The car is pretty powerful, fun to drive. but admit its no evo. its time to take my lancer to the next level, and thats bulletproof the motor and up the boost.

your rods fit PERFECTLY in my 4g69 motor.

im wondering, between the major companies that make rods for the 4g63 motor, what is the best, strongest, and cheapest...

I know about crower, Pauter, and carrillo. does any other companys make rods for our cars??? and which is the best?

what is there ups and there downs. good points and bad points...

thanks alot for the help

Well, you listed 3 good ones. Manley is a good pick if you want a good price along with quality. I dont imagine you will be making 500+whp, so those should do fine, same with Crower. Pauter and Carillo will be more pricey.

awesome.... eagle beams is a company i forgot about. i hear nothing but great thigns about them. i mgight go for them...

but the guy up there said i might not get 500whp... well 509 is my goal. fastest ralliart int he world is a PR car running 508 whp. so i want 509. with a built bottom end and alot of money, i should get it done lol.

so i need rods that can hold at least 500whp, and maybe 550 to 600 to have a safe zone.

im leaning on either the eagles (cuz of there reputation) or crower rods, cuz i can get a set for about 299. is that a good price???

what do you guys think? ANY INPUT OR ADVICE at all would help.. thanks alot

The is a reason the Eagles dont cost much. I personally wouldnt trust them with 500whp. The stock Evo rods are probably stronger. If you go cheap you could have problems that will cost you more than a good set of rods would.

I would personally go with Carrillo or Oliver. Either or, with Carr bolts. Build it right once.

You will be fine with Eagle H-beam rods. I've had quite a few wiseco/eagle built bottom end evos come through and have taken plenty of punishment way over 500whp. If you are looking to make a few ticks over 500whp, I can assure you that those rods will withstand the abuse. If you feel you need the insurance then go buy one of the 3 rods you listed in your opening post.

It's going to be near impossible to find all 3. Typically the "best" are dedicated racing parts which are engineered for lightness. You can have strong and cheap, but they will more than likely be heavier.

If you want to spend $300 bucks or so, Eagle and Scat may be a good choice. IIRC the Scat rods have an oiling hole in the pin end that the Eagles do not.

Our rod of choice is the Manley Turbo Tuff also. Eagle rods are ok.
