LICP keeps falling off

Hey Guys,

My Lower Intercooler Pipe to the right of the IC keeps popping off no matter what. I've tried moving the pipe closer to the IC outlet and making sure the T-Bolt clamps are securely on the IC outlet and LICP itself. The clamp is on so that the rubber hose over the pipes are about 3/4 inch exposed to edges. LICP is pushed closely to the IC outlet.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so what did you do? Is it possible that the rubber hose is too stretched and needs to be replaced? Should I replace the clamps too? I bought the car used, with an aftermarket Greddy IC so I doubt taking it to the dealer would be an option.

I plan on taking the bumper off this weekend and re-tightening everything. Where is the proper placement of the rubber hose and T-clamps? More on the IC outlet or LICP hose? Or somewhere in the middle? Looking at the other side, I noticed that the rubber hose kind of sags underneath the t-clamps and there is a little bit of space from the IC outlet to the Upper IC pipe. Should the rubber hose be secure with no sag? Should the pipes have any gaps at all or pushed together firmly?

I searched the Forums for this particular issue, but found nothing directly on this issue. Thanks In advance.

just make sure there is an equal amount of pipe in each side of the coupler.....and o yea switch to t-bolt clamps, you wont ever have it blow off again.

i'm having a similar problem I have an injen intake with the injen UICP and greddy FMIC, the UICP is 2 pieces and keeps popping out of place where it meets with the charge pipe and the pipe that goes to the intake manifold (it meets right near the BOV)

Get a good set of T-Bolt clamps and really tighten those things down. You will never have this problem again.

does ur LICP have a rolled lip on both ends? low quality licp wont have it, and increase risk of boostleak or popoff

Spray hair spray (extra hold) on the pipes and while it is still wet slide the couplers back over it and crank down the t-bolt clamps. Also if the pipes aren't bead rolled then you may have to use some vice grips or channel locks to put a slight flair in the end of the pipe. Slide the couplers over it and crank the t-bolts down.

Thanks for the tip. I've tried to make sure that there is equal amount from side to side, and secured the screws; but I guess it's hard to make sure I'm doing it right looking from the side of the road each time.

It's okay if I drive the car granny style, but when I do any kind spirited driving is when it'll fall off. (Who buys an Evo not to hit the gas pedal from time to time?) I was just wondering what could be the culprit of my problem here, whether it's the t-clamps itself or should I look into placing the rubber tubes that go over the pipes.

...Thanks for the help amigos.

Hmmm... I'm assuming it's the stock LICP. It's black, and the ends are pretty much straight as I can tell. No bulges or rolls that I can see.

I used to run the Greddy FMIC, I switched out the LICP for a Nisei pipe because of the bracket. Haven't had any problems since.

didnt bother reading the posts but...

sand down the part of the pipes where the coupler goes over
wipe it clean
spray Hairspray on the sanded part
put the coupler on
use T-Bolt Clamps to hold the couper in place
let the hairspray dry

Hey! Welcome to the hairspray party! LOL I think most of us are in agreement that T-bolt clamps are a must. Hairspray is optional but highly recommended by me!
