evo 7 compression

does any one know the compression ratio for the evo 7 motor? the reason i am asking is because my 7 only boosts up to 15-17 psi max. and a stock evo8 is aprox 20psi would a evo 8 wastegate be an up grade? or even an evo 8 turbo? or would it produce too muck boost for the evo 7 motor?
thanks
dan

I am pretty sure the Evo 7 engine is the same 8.8.1 compression ratio as the 8/9 us models. I see no reason why 20psi would not be safe aside from the fact your ecu is tuned for 97 oct if memory serves me. You might want to consider a flash if you are planning on turning up the boost.

i was told that the evo 7 turbo was better than the 8 turbo because it has a titanium wheel and spools quicker is this correct?

That only applies to the RS turbo, the GSR turbo still uses the inconel exhaust wheel.

There made to run 95+ octane so hopefully you have some type of reflash for the gas over here. I run only Sunoco 93 octane and my boost is about 19-20psi with a reflash . Only the RS/RS2 have the titanium wheel but unfortunately we still have the small exhaust side.
Looks like the RS 7 turbo and a 10.5 exhaust side is what the evo6 TME turbo is.

bang for buck is the 10.5 exhaust side a good improvement on the 7?

yeah pick up the 10.5 hotside, because with 9.8 and all and great supporting mods you dont having high boost after 5500-6000rpm! (for my experience!)
