Quieting Down A Buschur Exhaust

I have a buschur TBE with a Bullet muffler. After a couple years I am starting to grow tired of the noise.

It seems that Dave has been putting extra mufflers or resonators on a bunch of cars lately and there are two main options out there.

The magnaflow muffler is too large to put where the test pipe is, so I can’t do that.

I could either add another bullet in the test pipe or add a resonator in the test pipe. I don’t know much about the resonators that buschur uses.

Which do you think would be quieter. Two bullets or a bullet and a resonator?

Two bullets will be quieter. Resonators only tone down the sound. They do nothing for overall volume unless they're louvered or restricting like the units in the Fujitsubo units.

I take the Bullet off and put on a Magnaflow. Its ridiculously quiet in my opinion. Had one on my car and went to the bullet. I also happen to have it laying around if you are interested in it.

A friend of mine had the magneflow and I thought it was really not all that much quieter than the bullet.

Do you think 1 magnaflow is louder than 2x bullets?

I have 2 bullets and love it. It's still a tad loud. I think 2 bullets is about the same as 1 magnaflow, but they sound different. I've thought of adding a 3rd bullet.

Just sent this link to a friend that has magnaflow and helped me install the 2nd bullet...we'll see what he says.

He commented, and we think the 1 magnaflow w/ testpipe is overall quieter than the 2x bullet setup. My car is a bit more raspy than his. The only thing I don't care for on the magnaflow is that the can is so big...if its polished and I'm following him, I can literally see stuff go by in the reflection on the muffler.

I don't really care that much about the tone of the car. With one bullet I think it sound fine, its just too loud. While crusing at highway speeds I can barely hear my radio (my car is gutted - no sound insulation or back seats).

Also when I drive to work early in the AM, I feel guilty for being so loud (I live in a small quiet town).

I guess I should just try another bullet and see if that is enough. If not then maybe I will add a resonator to the axle back or swap the rear bullet for a magnaflow.

I like to be able to look at my sexy mug as I polish the rear of my car Scheides is correct though, the Magnaflow is quieter and less raspy than the dual-Bullets.

+1...

But...my magnaflow is still loud. Maybe try a Magnaflow with 1 bullet?...not sure if that's doable or not...

I just ordered a second bullet. I will try that and see what I think.

I have only 1 bullet now so it has to help at least.

Sure, Magnaflow in the catback and a Bullet in the testpipe.

I ordered a generic summit bullet style muffler and had flanges welded to it where the test pipe goes w/ the magnaflow rear on my buschur exhaust.

26.00 total, cut the flanges off the old test pipe with a hacksaw...

Quieted it down a lot....
