Fuel Management Idea
Fuel Management Idea
Ok just to start this is just an idea. I was planning on using the turbo xs utec for the multiple map feature I was just wondering if anyone has thought of this or has done this before, but using let say the ams dual fuel rail intake manifold could I use one rail for a set of smaller injectors to run pump gas through the stock fuel tank and then with the second fuel rail run larger injectors to run race gas or e85 with a external fuel cell. Obviously I would need to set up a switch to power the fuel pump I would be running for the map I would be using and also I would need two fuel pressure regulators. I just thought it would be cool to run lets say map 1-3 on various pump gas tunes and then map 4 and 5 on rce gas. Any help or suggesions or things i'm leaving out let me know and if anyone wants to pirate this idea go for it. Thanks for any help.
I asked about this before, but the answer I got was there wasn't really a need because you can successfully run big injectors such as 1200cc on the stock ecu, with the Tephra Patch, you can have map switching for a race e85 and a 93 gas tune.
I guess with what you are proposing, you would pump from a completely different fuel source, and if it were me, I would just piggy back my map switching signal to a relay that controlled which pump pumped from which tank.....and not have to worry about different injectors and what not......

I thought about that also but I thought it would be cool to have the stock tank to have pump gas in and on the fly just switch to a fuel cell and have c16 or e85 in it so I can run more boost without having to drain the gas tank to run full race gas. I know it would not be the easiest project but it also isn't the most difficult thing i've heard of people doing. Well atleast i'm not the only one with a wondering mind.
Basically you have described meth injection. Meth injection is in a seperate tank, seperate pump, it's own injector, and can be turned on and off. You can run high boost with the meth on, the flip you tephra map switch to pump gas and run low boost on straight pump gas. What you exactly describe could be done but would be extremely expensive for the sole benefit of having a seperate gas tank with race gas in it. Everything else is just adding weight, cost and complexity.
Im saying you can do that all with the stock ECU and map switching...
With map switching you litterally have 2 different maps and injector scalings, and with a flip of a switch you can instantly switch between the 2. If you didnt want to go through the hassle of draining the tank etc, just use the same signal that triggers the ecu to switch maps and use it also to trigger a set of relays that changes the fuel source and fuel pump.....
