EGR blockoff plate for the head?

Where is the other end of EGR, and why does no one ever talk about a blockoff plate for that?

I come from the neon world, and when we do the EGR delete, the EGR valve mounts right to the head, and then pipes into the intake mani. All of the mopar kits come with two blockoff plates, one for the manifold, and one for the head. The evo is the same way, right? Why does no one sell a block off plate for that end?

The EGR routes through the cylinder head, through the inside of the intake manifold and to the EGR valve. You could block it off on the manifold, but the only way to block it off on the head would be to use a aftermarket intake manifold with a flange that blocks it off. Like the AMS VSR. I guess you could weld the factory manifold flange shut. Why do you want to delete it in the first place???

The EGR block off plate goes where the EGR is. The other holes that route up to the IM can be plugged or re-used. When you take it out make sure you put a patch in your ecu by mrfred, or you will throw a code.

I know there are those pieces, I guess I was confused by the operation of the solenoid. I am used to them going from the head, and into the intake manifold. So it would require 2 block off plates, one for the head, and one for the intake manifold. Our design is different?

There is actually a lot of discussion on this in the ECUflash forum. I recently blocked it off but note the exhaust gases still sit along the #4 intake runner even when blocked off. Some of the guys have tapped the hole coming out of the head into the intake mani and use a plug to block it off which would probably be the most effective.

the exhausts gases might just sit there but at least there not going into the intake...with the egr blocked off the engine only gets fresh air! but if you did tap and block it off at the head it would be better yet because the exhaust gases wouldn't be warming up the intake manifold

Ahh ok, so it does run through the manifold no matter what, just not into the manifold. Fair enough. When I pull my manifold next, I will tap it, until then, I will just prevent it from going in.

Thanks guys

tapping the head or manifold close to the head sounds like a little too much...an egr block off plate does the job just fine and has always
