Installation beehive of valve springs
Installation beehive of valve springs
How easy or how difficult is to install beehive type springs on an EVO without removing the head from the car? I mean do it at the same time cams are installed but without removing the head. Have anyone done it?
I did a valve seal job on a 4G63 and I pulled the cams. So whatever tools you use to set the timing belt were required. Also, an on-head spring compressor. I think the one I have was made by MAC Tools. Finally, some rope to shove into the cylinder so the retainers will release.
The retainers on these valves are tiny. I magnet will collect them when released. To replace I used a slightly magnetized screwdriver. Expect lots of dropping so have any holes in the head plugged.
