K&N panel installed
K&N panel installed
Hey all,
Just received and installed my K&N last night. Part # is K33332105
I already have the following:
-Forge recirc DV,
-DIY grounding kit,
-Hallman MBC at ~19psi in 3rd,
-Defi mech boost gauge
-Redline MT-90 in the transaxle
-NEO RHD in the transfer case and rear diff
I wasn't expecting a huge diff, but car does seem smoother and to pull a little harder. Subjectively improved throttle response and a little better pull in the middle and up top. Sometimes I hook up my GTECH and just look at the g's it pulls in various gears over the same stretch of road. Not super accurate, but it does provide "some" level of comparison.
The DV is more audible now, almost as loud as when I removed the airbox cover with the stock filter, but not quite. I like it. This seems to imply that it is less restrictive than stock, which of course is one of the goals.
On a side note, I burned a MAF in my A4 1.8T within a year after installing a K&N panel filter. I think it was my fault getting a little overzealous with the oil. I've been a little paranoid since, so I used a paper towel to dab the filter and try to remove any excess oil before installing in my EVO. Turns out the filter was quite dry, so I'm pretty optimistic it will be fine.
Other posters have reported that the filter may sag over time under boost. I'll keep an eye on it.
I decided on the K&N after seeing "slight" gains on other people's dyno runs (3-5 HP), without erratic MAF reading, like some have reported with the Ralliart. Also, not satisfied with the results from the cone filters.
Take care,
FB
