Question on intercooler flow?

I am at an ultimate debate. I have a JUN front bumper and used to have a Buschur Deluxe Intercooler. The bumper fit perfectly due to the inlet being in the back of the end tank of the buschur deluxe. My new intercooler setup is a precision core with cast end tanks and the inlet comes straight out the side. The bumper does not fit with this intercooler. I will have to have it cut which I really dont want to do. I aquired another Buschur Deluxe and was wondering about the flow difference being that the inlet is on the back of the end tank. How much would this restrict my flow on my setup? My mods are below. I dont want to lose a bunch of power by switchin to a more restricted setup. Can someone please chime in and let me know if this will affect flow enough to rob some HP?

thanks!
PJ

You could always pull the bumper and have it dyno'd with both and see for yourself???

Asking air to make a 90* turn on it's own is restrictive, but people do it all the time. Is it the best? No. Will you lose gobs of power? No. The general rule of thumb is for every 90* you lose 5 hp. Shoot, we loose 5 hp on a warm day too.
It's your car so do what you want; cut the bumper and keep better flow, or go with a lesser design and maybe raise the boost 1-2 lbs and tune away.

With the Buschur deluxe you also loose 20" of Intercooler pipe compared to other end to end intercoolers. Just thought id add another HP variable to your problem.

Id rather loose 5hp and have the power come on quicker and create a more usable power band.

Well I actually dyno tested the difference between the intlet being on the back side and then in the end and found the BACK SIDE to be best, it is NOT a restriction.

If you notice on my RS that ran 9.04 and our black car that ran 8.8 they both have back entry intercoolers on them.

I'm not sure which core you got from PTE, if it is the same size as our deluxe then stick with the deluxe for sure.

The PTE has cast tanks and the inlet/outlet are not angled back and it fits like crap on the EVO. Our Race core is angled back which might fit well with your fascia.

Thanks Dave! The PTE one is basically the universal one you sell on your site. I will switch to the deluxe then! I will eventually go to the race one at some point.
