Front Open-Type Differential

Seeing how we have a Front Open-Type Differential, what exactly does that mean? I know how LSD's work, but how is "front open-type" different?

An open-diff transfers all the power to the wheel with the least resistance. Usually, it is the inside wheel when you are turning. This is bad because coming out of a turn, you cannot lay all the power at once. This was with the case in my eclipse GST, which made decent power, when I road-raced it. If I floored it coming out a turn versus modulating the throttle, I get massive wheel spin because all the power will be transferred to the wheel that is spinning because it has the least resistance. Having an open-diff in a FWD car is the worst! Besides the fact that it is wrong wheel drive

We have limited slip in center and rear and open differential up front.

The open diff on the EVO is only a liability in certain situations. On a racetrack it's seldom a problem. If the front slips it simply ships the power to the rear. In accelerating out of a turn it's fine as you the weight is on the rear and there's more traction there.

I've found it to be a real pain in doing hill climbs and steep canyon drives going up hill. The turns are so short, the speeds are so low and the grade is so extreme; That by the time the center diff sends power to the rear you've lost your momentum and you're past the turn. Annoying to say the least.

Aside from that it hasn't proven to be a huge problem for me on a race track or daily driving.
