95k Stud Install, HG too?

I have read all the legit post on studs/HG install. My motor has 95k on it now with no problems. This weekend i will be installing HKS 272/272, HKS timing belt, FP 8WR, ported mani, invidia 02, ARP HS, and i have a BNIB OEM HG(If need be). Since my motor has a good number of miles on it should i replace the HG?

Also i am putting Evo Dave headlights with intake duct, Koyo rad, Cusco front power brace, and replacing the entire radiator support, if i can. My car is getting a face lift.

Thx!

If you are gonna replace the head studs IMHO you need to take the head off and replace the gasket.

take the thing all apart and replace the HG at the same time it would be best, even just another stock HG which have been proven for greatness

Ya i didn't believe there was any reason to purchase an aftermarket one sice i wont be seeing an all out motor untill this one fails. I figured with the high miles even though i have not had any trouble yet to go ahead and replace it since i am starting on the inside now. Thx guys!

If you're just gonna run pump gas, I would say just run the stock bolts and and not bother with it.

Why do all the companies step up programs include arp headstuds then? From what everyone said it would be cheap insurance. An who knows i might try race guess later down the road. I change my mind about as much as the weather.

Deffinitly do the headgasket while you're at it. There is plenty of people on hee that complain of not taking their head off when replacing the studs, and then end up with gasket failure.

I would do it; pump gas or not. It give you peace of mind, and room to grow later on. I do respect Scheides and Curts opinions as they are veterans here, but I know how the pattern here. You'll get some cams first, and like those for a while. Then you'll up the boost and get a good tune. Then you'll want more so you'll be looking at a better overall kit, and so on...

When I got my evo, I told myself just basic bolt on, cams, and suspension. This was about a year ago. I'm currently building a 2.3 that I want to run low 10 second passes.

See, i bought it with full intentions of built block/head, bored/ported, fpred or 35. A far as far as the motor goes anyway. Just have run into insufficient funds like everybody else. But i just figure since this motor has such high miles, i am going to do some simple things untill it fails. Building one in the mean time for when it does. Thx for the input guys.

If you take the stock bolts out, throw them away. On most all turbo cars, stock or modified the factory head bolts should not be reused. Spending $100 is nothing compared to pulling the head back off for a blown head gasket from one weak head bolt. Stock bolts will stretch even from stock boost.

No, I am NOT saying to re-use the stock headbolts if you're doing a headgasket job. I'm saying to just not bother doing the headgasket/headbolt job alltogether and run the factory stuff. It's run fine for 95k miles, adding some power on a stock or stock-frame turbo on pump gas is not going to jeopardize that.
