I change my tranny and differential oil at 2200 miles. I used Redline MT-90 for tranny and 75w90 for differential (front & back).
I was shock !!. The front differential fluid was really bad for 2200 miles. A lot of metal dust. The fluid looks metallic too.
The tranny fluid is not that bad. Still a lot of metal dust collected at the plug.
Rear differential looks good.

So, don't wait until 15,000. $50 investment will save your tranny and differential in long run.

You will need 3 quart for tranny and 1 quart for both front & rear differential.

5600 miles, had the dealer change the tranny, transfer case, and rear end oils. All came out with no debris and as clean as the day they went in at the factory. If there was any problems, I wanted them to be the ones that found it (and I told them that).

I changed mine to Redline MT-90 for transaxle and NEO RHD for transfer case and rear diff at ~3500 miles. Quieted the tranny down a little and improved shifter feel and shifting action. I will do it again at ~10K miles.

My drain plugs were coated with magnetic residue. Hopefully at 10K it won't be as bad.

I'm surprised that ou say there was no debris. Do you mean in the oil or even on the drain plugs? A few other posters have also reported a fair amt of residue on the plugs. Did you see the plugs yourself?

BTW, I just remembered that the dealer changed my tranny fluid at ~600 miles when I reported the decel noise. They also said it was "clean."

Thanks,

A little OT, but for those running the Redline MT-90. Did you notice improved shift feel or anything. I'm having occasional 1st to 2nd grind(missed shifts).

Thanks in advance,

Jason

Changed mine at 4500, as part of the clutch replacement. Went to all Redline fluids, and shift quality seemed slightly improved.

Changed mine at 9000 miles..just this week.
Figured if I missed second gear a few times, I didn't want any shavings or nothing to be hanging around in there..

Changed mine at about 10k to Redline MT90 in the tranny, Lightweight shockproof in the diffs. DO NOT use Shockproof in the rear diff. It doesn't have enough friction modifier to let the clutches slip in low-speed, tight turns, causing a chattering/juddering. I replaced the rear diff fluid with Amsoil Series 2000 75W90, drove the car in about 10 figure 8's, and everything cleared up. Redline's regular 75W90 should do the trick too, just stay away from the Shockproof stuff in clutch-type diffs.

Yes I saw them, and there was very, very little on the tranny magnet. The oil had no detectable debris in it either when rubbed between my fingers. All the oil looked new when it came out. I have never had any "unexpected" drivetrain noises, have 5600+ miles, and 20+ dragstrip passes. The dealer knows all this as well. I really lucked out and have "excellent" service and parts guys.

I had a decent amount of metal on the transaxle drain plug, and the fluid that came out at the very end was really dark, just like maybe a tablespoon or so. I put in MT-90, and I'll be changing the center diff tomorrow. I am still debating on the rear diff. In my experience, they rarely develop the particulates the center and transaxle do.

Changed the transaxle and transfer fluid at 2500 miles to Redline MT90 and 75W90. The magentic drain plugs, especially the transaxle one, was covered with metal dust. It looked really bad. I haven't changed the rear differential fluid yet though. It could be my imagination but I was almost certain that the shifts felt a little faster/smoother?!? 3rd to 4th was the most noticeable improvement, if any, for me.

I want to change it by the 1st oil change (1000 to 2000 miles)..
Is that a bad or good idea??

Also... could someone clarify some terms for me...
Manual Transaxle = Manual Transmission?
Recommended lubricant is API GL-4 SAE 75W-85W or 75W90

Transfer case = Front open diff right?
Recommended lubricant is API GL-5 SAE90

Rear differential
Recommended lubricant is API GL-5 SAE80W or 80W90

How come people are putting SAE90 in the tranny and 75W90 in
the transfer case????

edit: updated with API GL ratings

MT90 is not SAE90, if that is what you were referring to. MT-90 is 75w90, but designed for transmission(transaxle), and is GL-4 rated. I am using Red Line 75W90, which is GL-5 and 6 for transfer case and rear diff. Sometimes using a GL-5 or 6 fluid in a transmission that specs GL-4 can cause problems due to extra additives in GL-5/6. That is why I think most people here using Red Line seem to be using the above combination(at least that's what it seems to me).
