FP Green and 2.3L

I will get my new 2.3L this week and I tried getting a FP red for it but no one has one for immediate delivery so I will install the Green I was using plus Methanol kit. My question is: How much PSI do you recommend I should use with the Green plus 2.3 plus Meth. With the 2.0L and Green I was doing 24psi. but with no meth.

All cars are different no matter what people say. So only a ideal boost level can be said. I've seen 2.0/ FP-G/meth/ tuned for 27psi. Stroker would only suck the life out of that turbo more. Not to sure you could go higher or even run 27. Your tuner should know when its safe to stop. Keep updating.

I will update as I get all installed and tuned. I have been searching and many use up to 32psi with meth so I just wondered what was safe with a setup like mine.

Once your on the dyno everything will show. The way the power curve looks. The power you make. Stuff like that. Just like the stock turbo, the boost tappers because the turbo is to small. With a stroker and a turbo not too much larger then stock will be very interesting.

I want to ask something that is a bit out of topic. Is a tune while the car is being driven as good as one in a Dyno?

Its not about psi its about HP. A lower psi but more timing might make you more power than more psi and less timing. Your tuner should be able to figure this stuff out.

I highly agree it's not all about boost. Engines and turbos fail with those believers. Dyno tuning is best. Too much can happen on the street. The dyno is stable and some can apply load. Dyno for the win.

To answer what I plan to do with my car . I drive my car daily and I hit the track once a month. Road racing , not drag. I agree about psi vs timing. But isn't a street tune more realistic than a dyno tune considering we can perform the tune on a flat stretch without obstacles?

Hey,

If i were you i would go with the FP RED. There is a local guy in san diego with a 2.3/fpred setup and the outcome is 500+whp/500+tq on pump 91. That is amazing if you ask me. Plus, the green is old news, wait for the red.

I prefer a road tune myself. It's hard to duplicate the varying load conditions encountered out on the road on a stationary dyno. Also, realistic inlet temps and air temps across the intercooler fins aren't easily duplicated inside a garage either. Maybe, I'm wrong but I prefer a road tune myself. Of course, the most important element is the tuner who is fiddling with the keyboard.

Edit: Order the Red! Meanwhile use the Green while you break-in the engine. Then switch over to the Red and larger injectors. Don't use the Alky until the engine is broken-in.

I have my IX turbo packed ready to ship to FP so they can convert it into a Red. It will take 4 weeks to get it back but you are right, I will break in the motor while I wait for it to get back. I already have 880 injectors. Thanks for the advice of not using alky while breaking in the motor.

The only reason to use the Alky would be to boost it higher. But, you want to avoid high boost levels until the engine is broken in anyway.
