Best to have Dr. Gray retune it for you. He has a well established rep in SoCal for sure.

Are you running Unocal Premium gasoline? Don't run the cheaper brands. Also, the quality of the gasoline can vary in California depending on whether you're getting the refineries' summer, or winter fuel blend.

Like others mentioned above, get a boost gauge and a wideband. Once you have the WB installed then get a knowledgeable fellow Evo owner to log AFR's, timing, and knock for you.

Make sure you have other possibilities eliminated, such as a faulty pcv valve. It can leak oil into the combustion chamber and cause knock.

What fuel pump do you have? At what fuel pressure?
As others advised you, which is golden advice, get your gauges.
Do you know what gear he was in during your tune on the dyno?

it is a possibility but its also possible that its loose, make sure its screwed in very securely, if its loose it will create phantom knock

wait a second. Your running a bigger turbo, with supporting mods (i hope) and you have absolutly nothing to monitor what you're engine is doing? Im you even got it tuned. Go in the ECUflash forum and LEARN what is happening to you're car. You need to understand the problem and fix it rather then dropping hundreds of dollars on a tune that gave you the knock in the first place.

its an easy fix. Elliminate all mechanical possibilties, go in your ecu pull some timing where needed.

If it's the CEL flash knock light rom patch, the fix is simple...tune out the knock. If it's one of those TurboXS knock lights, then I'd say that was a very pointless investment.

At a minimum every Evo should have a wideband o2 and a boost gauge, do yourself a favor and buy them. At least with the wideband you can see whether or not it's a lack of fuel causing the knock or just too much timing.

How did Dr. Gray, tune your car? Was it a dyno tune, a road tune, or an Email flash? I think that the guy is in the San Fernando Valley, if I am not mistaken. Drive your car over to his place and have him plug his laptop in. He should be able to adjust the tune so that it eliminates the knock in ten minutes.
