Knocking sound....please help!!

Hey guys, I have a 2.0 built bottom end which I just complimented with a brand new Cosworth head.
The cams I am running are the Tomei 280s Procam, the hydraulic ones.

Now is the problem...after a couple days of them installed, maybe 50-60kms of driving, I am hearing a loud knocking sound which sounds like bearing knock but it sounds like it is coming from the head. I just want to know if you guys ever experienced anything like this.
Lifter knock sounds kinda like this noise too.To me, it is almost as if the OEM hydraulic lifters cannot cope with the cams. Does this make sense? On AMS' site, they state that these cams can work with the OEM lifters.
Or is this just a case where the lifters are just tired and just happen to require replacement?
Please give me some feedback guys...thanks.

Didn't you go through the process of bleeding down the lifters when you installed the cams? I think that there is a sticky about this topic(i.e., "Cam Install Sticky..."). Also, you may want to look into the uprated JAM lifters, which are a relatively inexpensive fix.

What weight oil are you running incidentally? You might want to try 0W-40 Mobil1, just as an experiment, to see if it'll quiet down the lifter tick. It did on my car.

I installed these cams on my head before.. and they were VERY noisy .. I bled the hydraulic lifters well so that was definitely not the problem.. I went with JAM No Tick Lifters.. and the noise was still apparent.. It could be just the noise of my Dual Springs from Supertech.. are these the ones that you have too?

hey guys....just a update...one of the cams seems to have been damaged so i dont know if it is due to improper install or a faulty cam...
the mechanic says that maybe the springs could not have coped with the cams but the head is a cosworth race head so I think that possibility is out....I am not sure what again it could be....I will post picks when I get a chance...anyone have any ideas?

A buddy of mine installed a NEW set of HKS cams and they developed a ticking sound at idle. I thought it was a ruptured lifter, but it wasn't. It turns out that one of the HKS camshaft journal surfaces was marginally undersized when he measued it.

Boost3, I do not know what springs the Cosworth head comes with. I will try to find out.
Do you guys recommend changing the lifters?

Rod knock will always resonate through the head making it sound like the noise is coming from the head area. If the knock is loud enough to suspect a rod bearing I would be parking the car and pulling the pan off the inspect everything. If you pull the pan off and there is shavings in the pan, then you will have confirmed a rod bearing.
