Transmission Life ?'s
Transmission Life ?'s
I am looking to buy an Evo, and I had some questions about the transmissions. I was told that the stock transmission built very well. I also see a lot of them tore up. I definatly want to be able to race from a stop and go the the dragstrip. Will the stock tranny hold up making GT35R power? Does the life depend on the driver or will they Just not take it? Also is the MR tranny worth anything for what I want to do?
Thanks in Advance.
Thanks in Advance.
it depends on what kinda power that GT35R is going to be making, i have seen a 10 second car that is still on stock transmission, but thats becouse the driver knows how to drive the car, and takes care of it..
The mr tranny is junk if you want to drag race they have thinner 3rd and 4ths than the gsr. Every tranny is different, if yours is brand new then it will hold that 35r power for a while (20k-50k) then eventually break. The best bet would be get a tranny and t case if you wanna luanch and drag alot. If you only go hard from a roll or from a normal driving speed than the tranny will last much longer. If you decide to stay on the stock trany than at least get motor mounts and a mustache bar or new bushings to hold the back end in place under hard shifts.
i just hit 32k miles on my 06ix.. something is wrong with my hub slider recently where i cant get into second gear.. no grinding or anything.. just wont go in most of the time. sending it to shep very soon
