Leaking oil

hey noticed my car is leaking some fluids. It is dripping off my downpipe it looks like its coming from where my downpipe rubs my transfer case. The car runs fine no problems i baby my car and i am constantly looking for signs of damage. I have no death whine car seems fine.

any idea where it would be leaking from and why. i am at work but will be pulling off my downpipe to see where the leak is coming from when i get home. It is not coming from above the downpipe but form the side where it touches the car slightly

just thaught i would post to see if someone has an idea of what might be going on.

FWIW, the t-case fill plug is located above the downpipe.

I know this because when filling the t-case just above the fill mark the gear oil would drip and make it's way right onto the downpipe.

Though it shouldn't leak unless the plug is loose.

Do yourself a favor and place a piece of paper under the leaking area to try to identify the type of leaking fluid.

Good luck.

well i found out the problem my dowpipe wore through the cover on my T-case and there is a whole about the size of a needle leaking clear fluid.

i will take some pics to show you what happend.

Was wondering how i should go about fixing this problem. Do i have to replace the cover? How hard would this be.

also what oil should i use.
Thanks for all the help any info would be appreciated.

Well, a down pipe that doesn't hit the transfer case, then use one of the epoxy products used to seal leaks on engine blocks - I don't mean 5-minute epoxy - but a product made for that application.

bump what fluids can be used to refill my t case.

it only leaked from passanger side of the T-case and the fluid was clear.

and if i were to epoxy wouldnt it just wear off and leak again the whole is about the size of pin point

if its leaking i recommend u fix it right...weld it up. and take down ur DP and knock (do it properly lol) in the section that's touching to prevent a recurrence.

http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/svg.aspx

that's what i use, it should take about 0.6qts for the T-case (at least for the evo IX)
