water + tubular manifold = bad??

i just got my full race turbo manifold put on and i was just wondering how bad it would be to get water on the manifold when the car is running. wont driving the car in the rain kill the manifold and make it crack much faster because of water through the hood vent?

put the vent back in and youll be fine. after awhile water will make it rust.

I would say rain is not much of a problem. It's not a huge amount of water drenching the manifold and rapidly cooling it most likely. Now making a few laps around your local road course and dumping a 5 gallon bucket of water on there...not a good idea.

What he said^

I had a crappy megan manifold with no hood vent, got rained on all the time, drove in the rain all the time. Held up for 2 years still isnt cracked. The Full Race will hold up just fine.

I have a crappy knock off manifold and I wash the engine while its still hot. I don't spray the manifold directly, but no problems yet. I've had it damn near a year too.

What about the stock cast-manifold? Can that thing get wet from rain without causing bad side effects?

Um I hope you mean coated. You can't powder coat the manifold.

There are a few options you have to coat the manifold with high temp coating. Painting is the same...don't do it. Pay the $200 to get it coated.

You can powder coat a manifold, people do it all the time. It will probably flake off pretty soon after though, a real coating would be the way to go.

I think the stock cast iron manifold is stronger than those cheap steel ones, so it should hold up longer at least.

I would hope the cast manifold is stronger then a fabricated tubular one. The cast one is only like 10 times the material thickness.

I have the RNR ramhorn style manifold and I have had 0 problems with it. It is Jet Hoted, and I regret to say it was all chipping off for some reason. It ended up looking so ugly I had to glass bead everything off which took foooorrreeevvvvvveeer!... but now it looks pretty again!

Im planning on getting BR cast one in the future with the ARC headsheild. Much more practical for a DD
