Stock Injector Mod?

I've seen this before on WRX/ STi forums...

On the WRX injectors you can dremel off the end of the injector and BOOM! you have 740cc flowing injectors...

has anyone thought about trying this or have heard about it?

I am guessing the cap is on there for a reason, probably helps with the spray pattern and fuel atomization. I wouldn't recommend trying that. Injectors are cheap, couple hundred bucks.

i did the subaru injector mod, then i had them flow tested and they came out to 810cc/min and a <5% difference in flow. they worked great for my stg 4 setup that i ran for over a year.

as for if you can do this to the evo injectors? idk. but the reason it is possible to be done on the subaru is that there is a cap that it micro-welded around the tip, that cap is what you remove.

I also did this on my subaru and they worked perfect for 4 yrs. Do the evo injectors have a similar screen on them ?

Injectors aren't that expensive to start with so why wouldn't you want to get a proven product that flows the same across the board. Plus you can always slap them back in when/if you part it out and sell the car.

Does anyone have a picture of the end of one? I hate to pull my whole fuel rail just to look at one.

Anyone want to donate a set? I would happy to experiment with them and have them flow tested if it looks promising.

And for the haters......we heard it for years with the subarus. Perrin even sells this mod for the subaru.

I'm trying to see how cheap I can go 11's. I know I am a werido. When the herd goes <<<< I go >>>>.

With the nightmare that it is to pull the injectors on a WRX, I would rather be SURE i would never have to pull them again

Thats not modding cheap like some fools say.... Thats modding smart... With the $300 you saved from not buying injectors you bought other mods instead.

I honestly don't think it'll work on our stock injectors. If they're the same type of construction as the older DSM 450cc size (and I'm pretty sure they are), then the pintle cap is pretty much there for protection of the pintle itself, and doesn't restrict the flow through the injector. WRX and STi injectors are different construction entirely, especially the side feed one's lol.

I had an '02, which had the "green brackets o' death" over the injectors. It took me about 15-20 minutes to swap injectors the first time, having never worked on a boxer engine before in my life.
