Greddy type RS bov

I got a used bov from a guy on ebay

I can blow air through both the inlet and outlet of tyhis bov, i thought that the stock one was closed up. So you could not blow any air through it, so im wondering if there is an adjustment?

also i need to know if i can run it on my car becuase im running stock boost 18psi.
I red in the search part of the fourms that i might need to do a single spring mod in order to run it on 18psi?

Sorry im a newb to this so please HELP!

BTW what way do you turn the allen key to tighten up the spring stiffness

it will run bad, don't do it. it shouldn't leak, especially at like .2 psi, its proably not sealing as its a piece of garbage. Single spring mod is so it opens under low boost low vacuum to improve driveablity. red is a color you meant read. Break loose the nut (lefty loosey) turn the allen key right only a couple turns.

Most of all SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH, this has been beaten to death and you will find out that you need a evo9 bov (jdm mr). also it is highly inadvisable to run the bov open, it must be recirculated.

I agree with everything he said. I have a Greddy RS that I used for a while and the seal never leaked like yours, but I did have to remove one of the internal springs just to make it a bit more drivable. It's pretty typical for the rubber seal that the piston seats against to dry rot, so that's probably where it's leaking from.

IMO they wouldn't be too bad with both springs in there if left the pressure reference line in there like they had in the first RS design, it allowed for a faster response with very low flutter.

I did search, yea i did not beat myself to death trying. At least i read up on it a little. Most people dont like this bov. Im starting to feel ripped off but i think i can make it work. I have not taken it apart yet to see if any internal modding had been done. This does have the recirculated end on it instead of the trumpet. Just wanted to see if there was anything i should do before putting it on so im not wasting time! And having to take it back off again.

take it apart, its likely that the diaphram is ripped or maybe just kinked from the last owner opening it up and not being careful when they put it back together.

while everything is apart make sure you use a very LITTLE bit of grease on the shaft so it operates smoother.

BTW, I have this BOV and it leaked when I originally picked it up. After a little tweaking its holding boost just as good as the JDM MR bov.

Yea going to take it apart today and hopfully there is not any problems. I know i will have to contact greddy for the new diaphram if i need one? Could you blow in one end and get the same amount of air coming out the other side. I mean its like there is no restictions or air at all!

Would you be able to tell me where i could get a new diaphram, sure greddy is going to charge me what i paid for the whole thing used. Also how did you mod it to make it close down all the way, I took mine apart and found out that the rubber diaphram is not cracked but does look old. Also i still have both factory springs in mine so should i go to a single spring if running stock boost.

dunno where to get a replacement diaphram. Maybe check with greddy or one of their dealers.

Why are you going to replace it when you said it has no holes in it... just cause its "old" doesn't mean it won't work.

Well i figured i would be safe and just replace it, I think there is a natural fold in the diaphram that is glued together? Well its coming apart and rather than waste time and keep this one untill it fails or falls apart i thought i would take percautionary measures! But i guess it all comes down to cost!

BTW the link that was pasted did not work for me.

You may be able to get the new improved diaphragm for free if you ask real nice. There should be no fold in your diaphragm. Just don't tell them you got this thing off of fleeBay.

And for additional help you can contact us Mon.-Fri. between the hours of 9:30am -12:00pm 1:00pm-5:30pm PST. at AOL instant messenger technical help: Greddy Tech 1 or Greddy Tech 2, or anytime at: info@greddy.com

Could care less about the whoosh, my stock plastic pos is fluttering and i have a feeling the A hole who owned it before me cranked up the boost a little too much.

Not going to lie its going to be nice to get a solid sound from a bov rather than a who hoosh shhoooh shoosh! makes for some really crapy shifting!

Im going to call greddy monday and see if they cant score me some replacement parts. Do we have a greddy member here i can talk to?
