turbo problem

Hey guys i have a problem, sent my 9 turbo out for a red and did it through a shop. Now a friend told me i have an evo 8 housing with red internals so its not as fast as an actual red. is this true? would an 8housing make it slower? thanks

Your post makes no sense.

You sent in your 9 turbo to get it built in to a red. Where did the 8 housing part of the story come into play?

The shop took my turbo because he already had a couple shells at forced performance so they could get the red to me faster. im trying to figure out if its actually a red

I was told once that it has to be a IX turbo in order for them to convert it to Green or Red. I think they will just send it back to you and tell you then can't do it. GL

What "shop?" Why would you let anyone else but FP have your turbo? IF you have an Evo IX car, you have an Evo IX turbo, you send it to FP and you get back a Red. There should be no other shop involved, nor should any Evo 8 parts be brought up.

You have to send the turbo and housing in for the rebuild. They will not accept just the turbo. I know because it happened to me. I sent the turbo only and they called me back stating they needed both units in before they would begin working on it.
