Stock 2004 EVO 8 Throttle body size?

Hi all, i have searched and searched, and havent been able to find the stock Throttle body size. When I was changing my upper IC hoses with the new Samco's, I measured it the inside in front of the butterfly to be 2 9/16 of inch on the tape. DIdnt have a slide rule, or what the standard tool to measure would be. Either way, My conversion states thats a 65mm TB. Looks stock, but then I have been researching the different sizes of TB from the aftermarket suppliers. 65 mm shows up as bigger, as well as a 70 mm. So what is stock size?

Thanks again for your help.

Thank you. So I need to measure at the butterfly. It looks like it is 65 mm straight through. I will remeasure with a mm tape for sewing.

Appreciate the help.

Curiosity askes, what is 65 mm good for by itself, understanding that it is all relative. I see "Works" advertis a +10 hp gain off of a 68mm I think... that type of thing.

the throttle body by itself is questionable HP, but better throttle response (prolly within the tolerance of the dyno)... and the reason is, with only a ported throttle body, less then an inch away your going to have another 60mm restriction which is the intake manifold. so obviously you will want the intake manifold ported to match the TB. with the two done you will see gains. on a stock turbo, its going to be minimal, but the more power your making the bigger a difference it will make.

the 68mm throttle body is tough because you can't port the stock intake manifold out that big. so your throttle body will be big, but you'll still have a restriction. if you see how small a difference the 65 is to a 68 you'll laugh though. its a tiny difference.

sounds like you would want that on a very high flow or high HP setup. I am looking for 400 WHP respectivly. Didn't plan on porting the intake plenum. Thought I could reach that with cams, tuning, and usual bolt ons...

Im planning to make 700hp on my built 2.4L with precision 6266. I was wondering if there is any different if im changing from stock intake manifold and stock tb would help me make that much hp, or should i change into a AMS intake mani and a Full Blown 70mm tb?

Anyone know what different does a intake mani and bigger tb can make?
Or should i just stay stock?
