Clutch Pedal is stuck

Noticed it this morning, pushed the clutch pedal down and it only came back up halfway. After a little nudge with my foot it sprung all the way back up. It engages a bit earlier than usual, I have trouble getting into any gear, and now there's about 3 inches of free play. I've adjusted it, noticed the low fluid level and I topped it off.

I've had two people tell me it could be the spring behind the clutch pedal, or the clutch cylinder. Took at look under the hood and the cylinder is moving, the spring behind the clutch pedal is fine.

After adjusting it a bit more, I can get into gear fine, and the pedal comes back all the way up. However it's still engaging way too early and the 3 inches of free play is still there. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Try bleeding the system. If not then replace the slave cylinder.

Thanks! I'll try that tomorrow, any idea how much a slave cylinder will run me?

I had it since 14 miles when I got my 06 IX MR "NEW" in May of 06. The clutch was normally high from the factory and after adjusting it to engage just a few inches from firewall, it has been since. I have now 32K miles still on the stock clutch.

The problem isn't just the early engagement, the pedal isn't coming back up at all, which is definitely not normal.

mine isn't coming back up at all unless I nudge my left foot to lift it, then the engagement will be like factory, too high. as long as shifting is okay, I would not worry too much.

Well in my original post, I said that I had trouble getting into every gear.

I took a peek under the car, and there's a small puddle about the size of a fist. Popped the hood and once again the fluid level is low. Just gotta get it on a lift to find the source. Thanks for your help though =)

Slave cylinder.

sblvro - definitely not normal, could be air in line or a defective slave cylinder.

check your clutch hardline, mine cracked and let in air at one of the ends, its the line that looks like a slight "s" that goes into the cylinder. if there is fluid dripping off of that one, that is definitely the problem. this actually happened to me twice

I had it since day 1 after adjusting the clutch to engage closer to the firewall. no drips or shifting issues though.
