Question intake messing up MAS readings?!?

ok so ive been messing around with my car for months now trying to fix the ruff idle. when it heats up my cars idle drops below 1000 and then idles really bad. u can here the engine whining. and the eshaust just puttering. also does it when stopped in 1st gear whether the clutch is in or not and when putting it into reverse from a dead stop. tried almost everything. from getting a new alternator, spark plugs, and last week a new clutch. im thinking that it could be my intake throwing off the MAS. in which case i have a new one in the mail and am gonna replace this week. or the idle control valve. which some guys say could be the case. i guess the inside is like plastic or something and when it wears out the car cant hold a constant idle. if its not this than i guess it has to be my tune. got a mail in flash over a year ago. but havent had any problems like this till this past winter. anyone got any ideas how i should go about troubleshooting? im running outta ideas and patience right now. i found an AWD dyno like 3 hours from me. so i plan on going and getting it tuned sometime this month. id just like to go there with this problem fixed already so its not an all day event trying to fix it there. any help would be much appreciated...

Search around in the EcuFlash sub forum. There is a ton of stuff on how to fix your condition.

I see that you are new to the site. Be aware that any question you post, you should heavily search before doing so. Other wise your posts could be deleted, or you will get flamed for being a noob.

What kind of intake is it?

Tuning a customer's car with an ETS intake revealed similar issue. I rescaled the MAF via ECUflash and it did improve the idle and driveability of the car a good amount, but it would still dip to 500rpms at times and then jump back up to normal idle...annoying and tolerable, but I advised him to go with the stock intake/maf setup. Put in the stock intake tube and viola..problems gone.

IMO, no need to run a straight pipe aftermarket intake with the stock maf if in the 400whp range, just stick to the stock tube.

Same exact prob here too. ETS intake causes my maf to read all kinds of crazy figures. I put the stock rubber tube on w/ k&n filter, and the car idles perfectly.

I had the same problem with the ETS One Bend Hard Pipe. Replaced it with the Perrin Silicone Hose Intake and the problem went away.

^^that's good to know, I am tempted to pick up the perrin. How does the perrin compare? Same intake size? More bends? I've seen pics but none that you can do a good comparison of.
