Dsm head on evo8 block??

Hiya all,

Interested in using an evo engine in a conversion that I have in mind, but I need the inlet and exhaust swapped around. Would an early Evo 3/DSM head fit an 8 block some how??

Cheers in advance.

Erm..... I know, I need them to be in a different orientation as I require the exhaust to be on the inlet side and vice versa....

I believe they'll interchange, they're basically a mirror image of each other with minor differences like the injector ports are on the head on a DSM. I recall back when EVOs first came here that someone was building 2G DSM blocks with EVO heads and swapping them in because it was so much cheaper than sourcing an EVO block. I can take a pic of the bottom of a DSM and EVO head side by side if you want.

Excellent news! Do the oil galleries line up or will I have to use a solid gasket and pipe the oil externally??

The oil feed is in same spot. The catch is to use head gasket designed for head being used. The only diff of gaskets between EVO4-9 and DSM is the cooling holes for exhaust side are larger. If its a drag only car this likely wont be and issue. But for street car it would be. So they are reversed between heads. The block holes are same for evo and dsm.
