I recently bent a valve and was in the process of repairing it (also adding new cams, valve springs, etc.) when I noticed there was a hairline crack in the head. I want to replace it just to be safe. While I was browsing new/used heads, I noticed that dsm heads are way cheaper than the evo 8 head..I'm wondering if I can use a dsm head on the evo 8 block as long as the bolt patterns are the same? Since they're both 4g63 I figured it would basically be the same, and also I'm replacing everything in the head as it is so I wouldn't be using weaker dsm parts. Any help would be awesome because I wanna get my baby back on the road asap!

 

Nope nope nope. Lol, both engines are 180* opposite of each other. Internally they're almost identical IIRC. If you don't want to spend big coins, the g4js (hyundai/kia 2.4 dohc) heads are the same aside from the combustion chambers (which are bigger on the g4js) and valve cover bolts holes. Along with a few other odds and ends.
