Buschur Racing goes 12.09 at 115 mph

Well we went back to the Zoo last night, oh, I mean the track. Man was it crowded.

Kevin got there about 40 minutes late. By the time he got there the staging lanes were completely full.

Tym had driven the car yesterday when it was cold and was hitting fuel cut, he turned the boost down to 17-18 psi. I didn't drive the car out to the track, Ted did. I asked him how much boost it had and he said he never looked.

Kevin makes his first pass. 1.71 sixty foot time, runs 12.19 at 113.85 mph. When he comes back I ask him, "How much boost did it have?" He says he doesn't know, forgot to look.

By this time the staging lanes are overflowing clear to the gas pumps at Norwalk Raceway. That is around 350 cars. We wait for over an hour for the next pass. The entire time I busting Kevin's ***** about barely beating my time, the car being 100 pounds lighter with him in it and an empty tank of fuel, etc. etc.

Next pass the 60' isn't quite as good, 1.73. Kevin told me it didn't feel good. 12.27 at only 112.63.

Something is wrong, Kevin is always a .10 or close to it faster than I am. The tank was full when I drove it last and now it is VERY empty. I ask Kevin, "Did you look at the boost gauge this time?" He tells me, "Damn, I forgot again."

Well there is one solution to this and now the staging lanes are closed. Turn up the boost and guess.

I reach in the car and give the boost control one full turn, this should be 1-2 pounds.

We wait for another 2 hours for the next pass. The track, for some reason, has a bunch of rocks on the starting line. Kevin leaves the line with the front tires smoking, yes smoking. The timing boards light up, DAMN! SO CLOSE! 12.09 at 115.09 mph.

Kevin comes back around and gives me the time slip. The 60' time really suffered. 1.75 sixty foot.

At this point we need to move on in the modifications to the car. There isn't much time left before the track closes for the year.

I guess this is going to be the best time WE are going to see on pump gas.

I hope some of our customers will continue on and run some 11's for us. We are just out of time. I KNOW the car will run in the 11's the way it sits. Without being able to get to the track and make run after run to get there we just don't have the time.

Stay tuned for the next mods. More boost and more fuel.

Did you all tune the car in any way to get those times,or are you still using the SAFC settings?? How much boost did you end up running on that last run?? Oh yeh, great job on your success with the EVO. I have yet to install all of my parts , but I already notice a great difference in performance.

What would you guess are the 0-60 times? I'm getting everything you have on the car now, except I may be getting a milder clutch upgrade. How do you think a lightweight flywheel would affect the car as it is, accel, drivability, etc. BTW, good job!!

I am getting this same fuel cut!! Please share with me what you are going to do about it; I've got all the mods in my sig and can't run better than a 13.0 due to fuel cutting down the track - it's hard to dial in the exact amount of boost when you only get 3 runs at a packed track. I want to get it resolved ASAP so I can run some serious times.

Fuel Injectors and pump?

Must be the colder weather. I hit fuel cut last week when it was colder than usual.

lightweight flywheel should help accel a little because of less rotational mass/weight , might cause higher revs due to the same reasons...

And that has nothing to do with fuel cut.

Nope, didn't change a thing. It was just a cool morning and I hit the gas and almost went through the damn windshield. My boost was set to 1.5 bar and that morning I was still at 1.5 bar peak when I hit fuel cut. I set it to 1.4 peak and everything went back to normal. Btw, nice 1/4 mile time.

Fuel Injectors and pump?
YOu may not be hitting fuel cut caused by the ecu, instead your car may be starving of fuel. The fuel pump may be restricting the amount of fuel that the airflow demands. Just a thought. I have never hit fuel cut since going with 272's and fuel pump/injectors.

If that were the case it would not be fuel cut. It would just be an overly lean situation causing predetonation.

Fuel cut is the occurence of MAF overrun causing the injector duty cycle to rise too high. To avoid it, the car must be leaned out with some sort of tuning device which decreases the amount of air registered by the ECU, such as an SAFC.

If you guys can safely take fuel away, do so. This will push fuel cut back far enough so that you won't flow enough air volume to have it happen.
