What do you guys think ?

so i stopped by the shop to see the status of my car becasue im getting my 6th gear and my 5th gear synchros replaced .The guy tells me that they had a hard time taking the tranny out because the tranfercase cross shaft wont slide out of the tranny He said that there is something stuck inside the tranny and will not let the shaft slide out . They are going to crack it open later on today so they will tell me what it is but i hope its nothing major besides the synchros . What do you guys think?

So he tried to take the shaft out of the drivers side of the trans that goes all the way into the T/C with a slide hammer/dent puller?

Your pics don't help very much.

I had a similar problem with the 6speed in my MR and i'm not exactly sure what its called but there is some sort of pin or rod that connects 4th,5th,6th and reverse. If that is the problem its very expensive to fix b/c Mitsubishi will not sell it, they only sell the whole back side of the tranny 4th,5th,6th, and reverse together. My advise is just get a used 5speed you wont regret it in the long run especially if you are gonna be adding power.

What was the problem with the tranny when you brought it into the shop?

I agree take it to some1 who has experience with EVO's.

the reason i took it in was because my 6th gear stop goin in . At first you had to really push it into gear and then it just stopped going in completely . It felt like you were hitting a wall when you tried to put it in . then the 5th gear started scratching just a bit when you would put it in gear. so after talking to some people i decided to take it in thinkin it was the synchros on the 6th and 5th that were gone .But today i went to go look at it and the guy said that the shaft coming out of the transfer case into the tranny would not slide out when they were taking the tranny out of the car and that was not normal . so they took of the tranny with the transfer case still attached .He said they are going to crack the tranny today to see whats not letting it slide out and i hope its nothing major like what your saying

well good news people .......... the shaft from he transfer case is fine ......... it was just a chain or pin that would not come out to let the shaft slide out ... so problem solved as far as not being able to take the transfercase cross shaft out of the tranny.......... still need my synchros replaced on my 5th and 6th gear
