2 Issues I'd like to resolve before...

I have 2 issues I'd like to resolve before I decide whether or not to sell my car...

1. I put in an after market clutch and it's a bi%#$ to DD. It squeaks a hell of a lot when engaging and there is really no way to "slip" the clutch to make it engage easily. Is this something I live with because of the clutch I chose? Are these 2 separate issues, each with different solutions, or related?

2. When the car is sitting idle it's fine, when I am driving the car, it's fine. However, when I let off the gas regardless how much I'm "on it" when I disengage the clutch and let the RPMs drop.. the car stalls if I don't heel toe it to death.

Is there anything I can do for either of these issues? I have a third problem which is a hell of a lot of engine shake but I am hoping the TRQ dampner I picked up with take care of that. Just waiting for the part to arrive.

Thanks in advance!

sup! jus wanna say to get used to the clutch issues, cause thats what comes with the Quater Master twins. Lots of rattle, squeaking and so on! the engagement may get better as you drive it, but dont count on it too much!
No disrespect, but you should have researched the clutch before you bought it!

As for number 2, If you jus installed an intake pipe, of somthing to do with the intake, I would check the tune. e.g. BOV vented to atmosphere or somthing of that nature. Good luck with everything, and dont sell the car cause of little issues like this, they can be fixed!

Honestly, in my opinion, the only option for you is to swap the clutch out for a different one. Sounds like you picked way too aggressive clutch setup for your preferences. According to your sig, you would be fine with a nice single disc setup like the ACT HDSS or perhaps another stock clutch.

As far as the engine shake is concerned, are you sure this is not from the clutch? I've had extremely harsh clutches in the past that shook the car violently.

Hope this helps,
Jared

1. The clutch seems like overkill for your mods and that is what you will get for a daily driven on a clutch like that. You can get use to it or you can replace it with something more daily-friendly like an ACT or Exedy stage 1, or even stock.
2. There are several reasons why your car is stalling out on you. If you search the forums you will find that there are several fixes to different culprits leading to those symptoms.
As for the engine shaking, a motor mount is the best fix for that, might get a little bit more idle vibrations but not enough to outweigh your problem. Good luck finding a fix and if you can tough it out and learn more about overcoming its quirks, the Evo will provide you with its best driving experience on any road.

It's definitely from the clutch it only shakes when engaging.. Thus the TRQ dampener.. I've been told to get that or lower motor mounts.. but according to some people they say the lower motor mounts will make the car shake while cruising when the AC is on or something... So I went with the dampener...

As for the research... yes I researched the clutch, but I had never experienced one before, so I went with it.. I used to have a nice long ride to work with a few stops and starts so I wasn't too worried then... I since then got laid off and now I have horrible traffic to commute in going the other way. It's really a tolerance level. The clutch only has a few thousands miles on it.. 3k-5k.. not a lot but not just getting broken in either.

The worst part is it just seems like it's getting worse.. I figured after a while I'd get used to it, but every day it gets harder and harder to drive...

But I'm really worried about the stalling when letting off the gas. Nothing is worse than having your kids in the back and feeling the power steering going out etc...

lol quartermaster twin...i'd be enjoying every moment of that if i were you. if you dont want to enjoy it, get your stock clutch back on because it can handle your mods. otherwise, get used to it because it's acting like it should

1. reinstall stock clutch

2. reinstall stock clutch

I'm curious as to why you chose your clutch? It seems to me that you have minimal power mods, and that the stock clutch would be perfectly fine.

It was cheaper than the stock clutch... I got a deal.

Oh and my stock was shot...

I suggest visiting the Ecu Flash area so you can get to logging your car and checking out the tune.

Just sell the quarter master and buy a ACT HDSS and flywheel to fix your clutch issue.

As for the stalling what bov or diverter do you run ? Is it VTA or diverted. Other than that do a boost leak test.

All my mods are in the sig... Otherwise it's stock.

As for the clutch I'm going to see how the dampener works first.

I thought about the logging, but haven't acted on it. I have a lot going on right now and that seems like a fairly large curve...

Yeah it was tuned after the mods were installed.... About 5k miles ago.... As isaid it's getting worse not better.

I've been searching trying to find the stall problem as an earlier poster mentioned... Haven't found anything yet. I guess google search has spoiled me.

So far I've search for...

stall coasting
hks stall
rough idle after acceleration
stall decelleration

I found this thread, which looks promising. It might even have some things to try, if I knew what I was doing.

any of the things they talk about seem more likely than others.. I'm a tech geek not a car geek. The worlds are combining but I'm not transitioning so well.
