HELP with high HP clutch decision.

I have been reading up on several different clutches i am interested in and have narrowed it down to three. I am looking for opinions from people or shops with personal experience. I would like to know what power levels it has been tested to, how many miles has it been driven or beat on, and anything you do/ don't like about it or anything else you would like to share. If you have experienced a failure with either, please tell us why. Hopefully this "compiled" thread helps out any others that are interested in the same clutches and are trying to decide which to get. One of the things that i was looking for was whether or not it changed the setup from pull to push, which these do. Here are the three i am interested in:

1. Quartermaster twin plate
2. Carbonetics triple carbon
3. SPEC twin plate

The Evo8 this will be going in is not a DD, but i do drive it around town and through the mountains on occasion. It is not a dedicated track only car. This clutch needs to hold 700+WHP with no problems. If you are a dealer for any of the clutches, please post or PM me your best price. Thanks in advance for all the feedback posted.

Aaron

quartermaster will hold north 0f 700ftlbs which is what they rate clutches on not whp, i have one on my VIII with just under 625whp and i DD it. its is very cheap to rebuild it, it is a push type so the pedal feel is softer than stock

Sorry to take this a little off topic - have you considered the AMS Exedy triple plate push conversion clutch? It is pricey, don't know if that is a consideration, but that is what they run on all their super high HP cars . . . and coming from AMS and Exedy you know it is proven. . .

Just a thought in case you were not aware of it. . .

im running the RPS Carbon/Carbon on my DD, it's super smooth and it rated north of 700 ftlb tq. It's a relatively cheap option than going Tilton, but it gets the job done. I have no complaints about it, it's been great.

Ted B and Drifto have been doing well with the new Spec. I'd give that a very good look.

Yeah Ted is the only reason i even considered the SPEC clutch. I haven't heard of anyone else running it besides them two. What are your opinions on the ones i listed? Thanks.

I've heard many stories of Tilton and other carbon clutches wearing out very fast in a street driven vehicle. . . not always, but in some cases. . .

I heard many people have to rebuild there Quartermaster after 15-20k miles, and that it is cheap. I dont think I would like to do that every 15-20k miles.

I use an Exedy twin on my Evo and I use the Spec on my Cobra. They are both very good clutches but dont feel anything like stock.

Spec twin plate. They were very nice guys at sema and were very confident on the strength and consistent lifespan of their clutches
