idle control valve

my check engine light is on and it says idle control valve it idles at 5-600 if it doesn't stall

it will not start up cold if you don't give it gas is anyone else having this problem if so do you know how to fix it

i already have a groundwire kit which helped my rough idle in the past

this started down in Atlanta on my way back from NOPI

Welcome to the club,

I have the same problem right now. My car acted the same as yours about 3 weeks ago. Brought my car to the dealer. They replaced the control valve. Idle fixed but cold start not. Brought the car back to the dealer. They said that the ECU needed to be changed. Great. Changed the ECU. Picked it up last week. No Joy! My car still has the cold start problem but idles fine once warm. Whenever I get some time I will be bringing it back for them to troubleshoot further. I will keep you updated on what they find. To be honest, they have no clue as to what is wrong with the car. This is going to take Mitsubishi techical supports intervention to troubleshoot this problem. If you find anything other than what has been done to my car so far please pass it on. I sure would like to get this cold start thing cured before winter comes. This info should at least get your idle back to normal.

any updates on this?

cold mornings ill start up, drive. ill give it GAS and its as if there is no power.

ill take 1st to about 3k (light on the gas) then shift to 2nd, ill try to give it a good amount of gas but its as if power is being RESTRICTED. like the throttle is being cut off, or moderated

but once everything is warmed up, all is OK. very smooth

could it just be a warm up issue. is this the same thing you guys experience?

I have posted parted of a page from the service manual. Sounds like it could be the temp sensor or the idle control. I'm not a tech so I don't really know.
