Downpipe fitment
I have a 2005 8 MR with ACD.
Will an aftermarket 2.5" or 3" downpipe for the 2003-2004 years fit the ACD?
If not, what adjustments need to be made and how can they be done? Thanks all!!

The non-acd downpipes are pretty much straight - the ACD downpipes have a curve in them to go around the ACD.
If you're looking at buying used - then you definitely need the ACD version.

I've installed non ACD down pipes on ACD cars, and sometimes they fit ok, and sometimes they rub on the bottom of the t-case..... not very much though. You could alway put a little dent in the downpipe if you do have that issue. But like I said sometimes I have problems, and other times I do! GL

I bought the Helix for my 9 and it fit fine until I tried putting the cross braces back on. I had to use so many washers it was rediculous.
I have the Cobb dp now and it barely touched the cross braces, but it also comes with some nice spacers just in case you need to use them. Much happier with the Cobb.

Awesome input, especially with the picture..
I have a apexi dp i'm waiting to put on this week. so i guess i'll have to see what happens. maybe it will have to be modified a tad to fit. i'll post back up when i finish it.

I don't think you'll have a issue with the Apexi dp cause from what I've read its not actaully 3". The only fitment issues I've read are always 3" dp's.
Check out a pic of the Works ceramic down pipe:
"Careful bending of the WORKS downpipe allows for clearance to the ACD housing found on the Evo IX. Many downpipes have fitment problems here"
