Tranny problem please help!!!

All of a sudden my car wount let me get into 4th gear. It goes into 1st 2nd 3rd 5th but when i give it gas the shifter moves back and fourth my guess was the tranny mount but i checked it under the battery tray...it seems fine..does anyone know what could be wrong ? please let me know
