VP Q16 116MON race gas on 98 pump
Hey Guys,
am currently waiting for my wideband, gauge and serial to port comm cable to be installed...
Ive currently got an aggressive tune on 98 pump gas and just purchased a bunch of
VP Q16
Q16 will work well in any drag racing or circle track application -- naturally aspirated, nitrous or blowers. Q16 is highly oxygenated, requiring a 4-6% increase in fuel flow, which will make 3-5% more power than competitive 116 octane fuels. Q16's oxygenation will significantly expand the range of air/fuel ratio acceptability, so performance will be more consistent and won't vary as dramatically with altitude or density changes. For bracket racers, variations in ET from run to run will be substantially reduced. This added fuel flow also effectively increases its octane by 6-8 numbers above its standard ASTM octane rating.
Color: Yellow
Oxygenated: Yes
Motor Octane: 116
Research Octane: 120+
Specific Gravity: .716 at 60° F
in anycase my question is...
Will I be ok to run on this gas until i get it tuned on the race gas?
I just moved to a country where they only have 95 pump gas....

I am not a brain as far as fuels are concerned, but I would be cautious running 100% pure highly oxygenated racing gas on an "agressive" 98 octane (R.O.N.) tune. When you say agressive, I assume that you mean that the fuel table is already tuned lean, plus the ignition timing is more advanced. You might be better off blending just 25% Q16 with 75% 95 Octane(R.O.N.) pumpgas until you get tuned for the racing gas.
Eventually, if feasible, you may want to run switchable, pump/race gas maps.
