Question about porting

For those of you with ported intake/exhaust mani's. When you installed your ported IM or EM did you shave the garket so that there was no lip between the head and the manifold? Are there any gaskets you can order that meet flush woth a ported IM or EM. Sorry for the noobish question, just not really sure and couldn't find when I searched... Thanks

Nick

I think you are a little confused about what is involved with porting. The gasket is not usually modified in any way. The gasket is used as a stencil to mark how much material can be removed from the manifold or head, but the gasket itself is not cut or modified (this is called "gasket matching"). If a head or manifold is ported to the extreme, and the ports/runners are enlarged beyond the factory gasket size, people sometimes cut away the gasket to match the enlarged ports, but I've not seen this done much on 4G63's, since the runners are already VERY large to begin with.
