I just wanted to know what is a better choice of cam to get because I have a chance to get either. I have a stock turbo now but going to put a 35 on. Can anyone give me a opinion

 

My opinion:

On a GT35R, JUN272's would be better.

With the stock turbo HKS 280's.

 

I agree, HKS 280's for the stock turbo and Jun 272's for the GT35R.

 

Are you planning on upgrading the valvetrain? The jun cams will require upgraded valvesprings however the HKS cams will not as long as you keep the factory rev limit.

 

i was going to do the springs and retainers either way i just dont know how long till the put the 35 on i gotta get some extra cash the juns would be alright till i put it on right?

No Question, Best performing and a great price

 

If your going to get Jun 272s save some dough and use the BF272 which i have found work just as well.. I would not install the cams without springs and retainers..

Of the three camsets that you have mentioned, with a stock, unported cylinderhead...do the HKS 280's. The other two choices requre going the whole nine yards, including ported head, as well as, upgrade valvetrain, to fully appreciate.

 

I have a set of Jun 272s with springs & retainers for sale. All brand new stuff.
The cams are for the Evo 9.

how ever Mellon did get to pull some good horse power out of the 280 , but he gained more power on the br 272 cams

 

the HKS 280's served me well on the stock, green and HTA3582 .63 turbos 365awhp, 400awhp and 500awhp respectively on 93 octane...all on the stock springs/retainers and I even spun it to 8500rpm. I don't have any direct comparison data between the HKS 280 and BF272 cams I run now because I swapped in a fresh BR shorty, head and the cams at the same time. Power went from 500 to 600 with those changes and still on 93 octane.
