FP Red or HTAG35R

Torn between the 2 turbos. Still stock valvetrain and stock bottom end but will get a ported head and engine rebuild in about 20k miles.

Fat powerband. Not too laggy. Fast. 93 octane only.

What do you guys think? Anyone got dyno sheets?

FP Red

1. Stock-like spool, sick tq at low rpm. (I made 28psi at 3800rpms with GSC 280 cams, DLL'd 442hp 402tq on pump 93 only)
2. Price 1799 for turbo, no need for a new exhaust manifold, wastegate, down pipe ect.
3. U can upgrade your valvetrain with the extra cash saved getting the Red!

gl with your build

The Red is a better street turbo for quick spool, but if you want better power on 93 and dont mind spending the dough, get the twin scroll HTA 35R.

What do you consider a 'fat powerband' and what are you looking to do with your car? For me a fat powerband is 3,500 + rpms (e.g. more than 350 ft-lbs from 4,500 to 8,000 rpm). I am looking for more power myself, the car is a street car, and I would like the powerband to be in the 4,000 - 7800 range, with peak power ~ 450whp. I have been considering the FP RED and the BBK Full as I think they will meet my needs better (and cheaper) than a TS35R setup.

I also feel the 35R series turbos shine with high boost (and meth or race gas), so since you're looking for a pump fuel turbo I am guessing your boost will be less than 30 psi, which again leads me to the FP Red or BBK Full.

Best of luck

I agree with above poster. If you're only running pump then you should stick to RED or BBK......plus you'll gain tons of power with those two as well on meth/E-85/C16.

Yes this too, although I have not seen #s that would indicate it is as good as the Red or the BBK Full....

The Red seems to be making the most power between those 3 turbos, but a little slower on spool up in comparison. The bbk and arms are soo close in spool and power, somebody needs to swap those two out on a dyno and provide the results, both are pretty mean turbos though.

I would do a short runner hta35r with a .63 hot side. I think that will be the best compromise between spool and power on pump gas. And if the budget cant do a 35r setup, go with a simple Red setup. Good luck with the build.

For what you're looking for, the Red fits the bill perfectly, and then some!!
