Exedy Twin Disc Clutch Kit
Exedy Twin Disc Clutch Kit
I got this straight from www.buschurracing.com and the ad seems pretty enticing.
What's the equivilant of this by ACT? I'm not too keen on the clutch lingo or how much pressure is best for me (everyday driver with intentions on upgrading but still want to be able to drive daily).
Does anyone have this or can David enlighten me some more on the quality of the clutch or how it would relate to say an ACT 2600 (which I have driven on, but for a Galant VR-4)?
THANKS!

not sure if you're picky or not - I have the Exedy twin disc and I love it, but I'm VERY flexibile in what I'm willing to accept. It rattles pretty obnoxiously when the clutch is depressed, especially when the car is cold. There is also a metallic "whine" noise when slipping it from 2.5 - 3k rpm and sometimes when downshifting to a high rpm without first rev matching.
My only criteria for a clutch was that it be something I can drive on and it hold the power I want to make in the end (500whp). If you're okay with a noisey clutch, then go for it! It's an awesome unit.

sounds cool though. hope my stocker lasts because i do NOT want to spend that kind of cash on a new one. Who's doing your install and how much?
Just an FYI so to speak , I have one of the Exedy Hyper twin plate clutch assemblies in stock and going for $1399 shipped . Avatarofwar can vouch for me. He bought his from me ! Thanks Cris !
This is what I posted in another thread regarding the same subject:
A few things...
If you are going to post on here saying that you raced, I would strong recommend putting the disclaimer in my signature in yours. I raced my car at the track, and Mits found out about it through this board and some video they took of me and tried to deny me a warranty claim on a 5th gear synchro.
When they were fixing the synchro, I installed the Exedey twin-plate which I purchased from Dustin at DRC Imports (see above). I am still breaking the clutch in so I can't give you a perfect testimonial of it yet but I can say that it grips much much much better and does not feel to be putting any extra wear on the tranny. Now if I give slightly too much acceleration off the line, it spins the tires just a tad which I could never do with the stock clutch. This is a good thing because instead of the tranny taking the beating off the line, it is distributing some of that load through loss of traction which will actually IMPROVE your 60 foots.
I will also say that Dustin at DRC Imports is a pleasure to work with and without a doubt has the best prices on the Exedey clutches (trust me...I shopped around). But not only do you get a good price with him, it is accompanied by proven customer service.

In all seriousness, Dustin at DRC Imports has hooked me up with thousands of dollars in deals and most of my parts I got from him. He's fast, responsive, and has the best prices. I have a link to their website from my homepage as well.

The site isn't very up to date . My designer is very busy with school for the next week or so. Updates wil come soon and more design (eye candy) and great weekly specials ! Feel free to contact me ANYTIME if you don't see what you are looking for on the site www.drcimports.net . Thanks for the good words Cris and Kevin !
I have the Hyper Single and it's very streetable. I agree about the noise though, but luxury can be sacrificed for performance. I got my clutch for $1050 from AMS and install with fluids came to around $700+ for a whole day job.
Hey Avatar, with the twin disc, is slipping the clutch an issue? Much harder to do?

When going with an aftermarket clutch, what is the life expectancy of it? Assuming you won't be doing 6000rpm clutch drops everyday of the week at the dragstrip.

I love my Twin Plate Exedy. And Dustin and DRC is the man who got me my twin plate in before anyone else could. I also vouch, that he is responsive, and does his best to provide the best service to his customer.
