Bottom end rebuild questions

I recently took my extra block into the shop to start the rebuild process. The shop took the block apart and said it would need pistons, rods, and a crank. The shop said they would not put used parts in due to liability issues. So I am looking at the Eagle cranks. My question is, if I purchase the Eagle crank, is there any other seals or gaskets I am going to need to purchase?

Thanks again for the help!

What kind of shop did you take this to? That sounds kind of sketchy that all new parts have to go in... Did they say that they were bad, as in unusable? Were you planning on doing just a base rebuild, or a full bottom end upgrade? A little more info would be useful.

P.S. If it's being all torn apart anyway, now is the time for all the seals to be replaced no matter what your goals are for it.

There should be no reason to have to get a new crank, I have a used crank in my car at over 900whp. In less you spun a rod or main bearing or broke your crank in half some how, all you need to do is have them re polish it. If they dont have the tools to do that take it some were else for sure as any machine shop will have a crank polishing lathe. As for gaskets, might as well buy the 200+ doller OEM gasket set, has everything you need and more.

I wouldnt use an eagle crank over stock mitsubishi.. There is always a chance a high mileage crank or crank that was in a motor that saw a good amount of detonation cannot be used on a HIGH HP build.. I see them all the time like that..

They told me the rods went down into the crank and messed it up. I had planned on picking up some weisco pistons and eagle rods. But they also told me I will need a crank. I have found weisco pistons and eagle rods for 700 dollars. So my plans were basically just creating a built bottom end.

They stated the rods were pushed into the crank causing damage to the crank. This shop seems very legit in this area, I just dont know if maybe I should check elsewhere about using used parts such as a crank? Also would you have a link to the OEM gaskit kit? The only one I can find only parts for the top end and turbo seals.

Take it to a real machinist who can mic and measure everything meticulously. Eagle cranks are bulletproof, but they need to be MIC'd and measured as the tolerances can be off even out of the box.

rods can not push into a crank without spinning bearings before hand... I think the whole story is not here. Should just Mic Everything. If the motor was fine before being torn down, dont see the problem with the crank. but deff get pistions, rods, and all new gaskets, Might as well put ARP Mains in it as well

If ARP mains go in, then the block has to be line bored.
