oiled filter

Will a oiled air filter throw a CEL on the evo ix? i had to get a 4in filter from pepboys as a back up, its a spectre and is oiled. i'm also running a tbe with a extended rear o2 sensor, which i'm guessing is to prevent the cel. any suggestions?

Only way to find out is to pull the OBDII code. If PO420 it's your rear o2 sensor. or could just be the annoying PO300s

If you still run a MAF then you might not want to use the oiled air filter. The oil can end up on the air flow meter of the MAF. Most MAF's are "hot wire" systems. That means they heat up the wire that meters airflow red hot to clean or burn off any dirt or dust on them. Burnt oil will just stay on the MAF.

you will be fine with a oiled filter. just pick up some mass air flow sensor cleaner from pepboys. take the filter out of the package and let it dry for a few days before putting it in. wipe some of the excess oil from the filter. and clean your maf with the sensor cleaner every oil change. good luck.

btw which filter do you usually run?
