Forge BOV - compressor surge issues
Forge BOV - compressor surge issues
Got my Forge BOV installed onto my AEM intake last night, and based on some of the reading I've been doing on this board - I decided to start with the yellow spring.
With that setup, I got a LOT of compressor surge when releasing the gas, even part throttle releases.
Tonight, I switched to the green spring, which is the lightest available. I am not happy - it still surges hard enough to cause the car to jerk, and the whine of the turbo stopping abruptly under force.
I will call Forge tomorrow (this is their new design, it was ordered last week). If I can't get a correct setup by this weekend, I will be pushing for my money back and just sticking with the stock leaky unit. At least it didn't cause driveablity and reliability issues.

They guarantee their product so they will give you your money back.
The problem is the new piston is too large in the valve and doesn't flow enough air. It actually opens fine but the air can't get out. I fortunately had the old piston style to put back in when I figured this all out.
I am going to see a friend of mine tomorrow at his work (machine shop) and I am going to see if he has the equipment to machine the ribs out of the new style piston so it can flow more air. If so, I will try that piston again and report if it works or not.
