Start checking fuses and fusable links. Its likely your problem.

just checked all my fuses, none blown.

could I have blown the starter? it doesn't seem to want to get into any other mode (acc, on, start etc) and only the headlights, warning siren, and the map lights work.

the starter is the thing the harness is connected to right?

Check the fuses in the engine bay. Look very closely at the fuses and take some out since some times you can't tell the condition of the fuses unless you take them out.

i pulled every fuse i could find, and none were blown . im beginning to think it's the starter thing that the harness attaches to because i cut the wire from the harness and that was the one that blew...

i thought fuses protected against this sort of thing my stupidity..

Try resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes. I doubt that is really the problem but it's worth a shot. I don't think cutting a wire can screw up a starter.

i just double checked all my fuses... none blown .... i've been letting the battery sit without the negative for a while and tried to start it but still nothing... i cut one of the extra wires off my greddy harness and hit the steering metal column and it sparked... i even took my greddy turbotimer off and harness and put the stock harness in and it didn't work!!!

i had a similar problem. I needed the lights in my car and totally forgot about the electrical shorting thing even though I'm an engineer. Dumb me. But I found that there's a fuse that attaches itself to a yellow plastic thing which contains two fuses inside. Pry it out. It was a ***** to take out. I had to take it to Mitsubishi to take it out cuz I spent an hour trying but no luck. My car started though. A short shouldnt damage much.

TRD, those were the first I pulled with needle nose plyers, they were OK.

I put the key in, and all it does is beep.

Check every fuse again with a testlight and if it doesn't light check it with a multimeter, sometimes they look good even blown.
the line that is blown it the one that corresponds to the wire you shorted, it sucks, but follow the voltage on that line.

the fact that your lights work and the buzzer works probably means you didn't fry too much.. good luck

--i'd bet your starter is fine

the wire that I cut was one of the extra wires off the greddy harness bridged off the red one... i was going to just electrical tape it up because it just kept getting in the way... looks like it's the main power one ... i keep checking fuses but no luck i will upload pics in a sec

There are more fuses under the plastic cover in the fuse panel in the engine bay. I had a shorg that blew a fuse in there, not a serious as your problem, but it was a b!tch to find and replace. Those Plastic covers and the fuses under them are not easy to get to or to replace. It's actually quite difficult to do without breaking something. They don'tb really want you messing in there I guess..... Keep trying, it's only a blown fuse. You'll get it fixed.

As a former car audio installer, and now a slot technician, I will tell you that just because you pull a fuse and look at it, and it looks good, doesn't mean it is good. Check the fuses with a dmm. I'm 99% sure it's a fuse or a relay under the hood. It's probably be the fuse labeled stater, or ignition.
