Thinking about making a straight pipe TBE

Hey guys,

I've been thinking about making a 3" straight pipe tbe. I was wondering would it be too loud for a dd? I watch some videos on youtube but I can't tell how loud they are.

I was also looking at an inline Magnaflow muffler if it would be too loud. Here's the link:

Would it be better if I just used a normal axle back muffler? Which one? I'm trying to keep this cheap as possible.

Since we're on the topic and I'm making a full exhaust, would a wastegate dump not be practical for dd?

Thanks

Just get a 3" electric cutout. After daily driving on an aftermarket exhaust, you will get annoyed with it.

We have 4 cylinders, not muscle cars. Cat back = rice, Cutout = race

My friend had one in his Evo. Not the best sounding on idle, thing rips WOT. I would only recommend it for track use. You'll need a muffler for DD.

I am running a Megan Tubular Manifold with Invidia 02 Housing and a custom 3" turbo-back with no cats or resonators.. The only thing I have is a Apexi N1 straight through muffler that doesnt do anything..

that said my car is also stripped, caged, and probably not the best car for me to be driving on the street... With a full interior its really not too bad unless your a picky person, stripped its loud as f*** and I have to use an Ipod or something to drown out the noise. Unless you have strict noise violation laws and dont care too much for passengers i see no problem?

That muffler DOES do something.. it acts like a resonator.. it is NOT the same as running a straight pipe .. For the OP, a full straight pipe without a muffler/resonator will sound like straight junk .. dedicated all track cars don't even run straight pipes on an EVO.. Good luck.

im very aware of this and no, the apexi muffler really doesn't do a whole lot. i know from experience, it hardly changes the note, does not provide any form of backpressure, and hardly quite's the car down.. I've tried a few different setups, and the only one that really makes a difference is welding up a resonator midpipe, as far as sound control goes anyway

4.5" tip and 100dB+ for no reason are the definition of rice, not to mention annoying to just about everyone except the guy behind the wheel. There are quiet cat backs out there that make the same power as the rest of them... and there's also the option of a cutout.

Anytime someone says "I got an exhaust ticket, what should I do?" The answer is: Put your stock exhaust back on. What do you want people to say? There is some magic way to make an annoyingly loud catback legal? If you get around 1 or 2 tickets, you'll eventually be busted again. Do it right and ditch the pointless noisy rice cannon.

Your a moron completely,I have a 3" TBE mix matched and by no means am i rice and also FYI the Stock exhaust is so restrictive and also I have gained about 7 MPG with the Aftermarket and I'm not extremely loud not even WOT it just gets a Deep roar and I have no cats. If you don't want to be called out don't call people ricers for doing performance parts and go get a Prius as well.

yea i understand and thats why i gave him the answer i did, but my car really is not that loud compared to other cars? i mean compared to a straight piped (ricy) civic or a v8 its not loud at all, not enought to bother you too much with a full interior just like i said.. now remove the rear seat and thats a different story
