Growling Sound

I recently changed my Transfer case oil and Transmission fluid (I used all the right weight fluids) and now when I'm in a higher gear at lower RPMS from time to time I will get a growling sound almost sounds like somethings loose. It's wierd because it doesnt do it all the time only when it seems to want to. It also seems to do it when downshifting at times as well. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

We did all the same stuff in my car as we did my friends EVO and hes having no problems at all just dont get it.

Thank you in advance

I think I know what you're talking about. Mine only does it (intermittently) when I'm decelerating and on the gas just enough to eliminate engine braking. I'm not messin with it until something breaks.

mmm so it sounds like something is loose then? I think mine does this when it's decellerating too ...like drivetrain shatter..i figured this was normla as many evos with upgraded clutches and such do this....

if possible get the car on a lift, and get under there and have someone do the low rpm in high gear as you try to see where the sound comes from.

I'm on the stock clutch so I think that rules out the cause being an aftermarket clutch..

My car drives normal, shifts fine, all the fluids are straight. I'm just not going through a long troubleshooting process that will cause stress, aggravation and drive me nuts just to find something that turns out to be something minor. I've been down that road too many times.
I just ignore it for now. If it becomes more consistent and lever of noise increases, then I'll address it.

The noise almost sounds like there is a gear loose and causing a low pitched rattle.
