? about mixxing 100 octane and then going back to regular pump gas

Well yesterday I added 5 gallons of 76's 100 octane to my poor evo running on crappy 91 to see how much of a difference there would be. Boy was ther ever god the car was so much smoother.

Anyways I was wondering if the car is going to get shell shock when I go back to strait 91 I mean will it ping till it re adjusts? I usualy fill up at halh tank anyways so I guess it will slowly loose its high octane reading so mabe it wont be bad but I wanted to get some thaughts on this

thanks

Chris

It will ping a little and compensate. I was also quite shocked by the difference in driveability and engine response above 5k.

yeah it will ping and also the fuel gauge will slowly adjust until you fill the second time with pump gas (91 octane)

Why would using a different octane gas affect the fuel gauge?

I do not know but it happened after I mixed 5 gal of 100 and 5 gallons of 91 and then went back to all 91.

I've never noticed the gauge reading differently between the two. I don't see how it could if it's a floating level system.

I guess I will be driving my beater to NORCO to get race fuel once a week and bring it back for the EVO to drink 2 gallons a week to keep up with what I have started.

I dont need any pinging
