How do you test whether your BOV is leaking? (I guess i need to cap off the vent on the intake.)

I found that one of my fuel injectors was leaking air ...~45K miles

Everything else seemed fine....

I tried my first last night and the car runs pretty damn good, but I found a GAPING leak at my IC pipe to the turbo side of the IC. Like sooo bad that putting my hand over the coupler was like spraying a can of compressed air directly into my hand. Sounded like my turbo at full spool. lol
I cant wait to see how much power this will bring back to life. This was only at 20psi too. Who knows how long its been like this.

Will fix this and see if there are any more down the line, but important realization learned for sure.
Another lesson learnned on my side is to check your clamps at least once a month, one may find loose clamps here and there

Take off the TB when the car is cold, and angle the coolant hoses upright. I have mastered the technique from the amount of times I have removed the TB.

So after I tested my setup today and then started the car, my car blew smoke for quite some time. Why would oil have been pushed into the combustion chamber ???

Because you pressurized the valve cover. You should have capped off both pcv's..you can damage seals by having more than 8psi or so in the valve cover.

My car has 56k on it and I've never heard a peep out of the tb seals. I might just replace them anyways. They're pretty cheap.

Hmmm...How was this any different than running the car at 30 psi? ( I am just trying to understand...)

Its not. As long as the breather is not clogged and the PCV valve is not stuck open, its going to be impossible to make more than a few psi in the crankcase.

lol.... im pretty sure you ment to say NOT CAP off the pcv valves..... capping them off would keep the valve cover pressurized, as the pcv valve is to relieve excessive blowby / crankcase pressure etc.

Correct. I need to do a leak test on mine this weekend. I am sure the TB seals are bad, 63k on the daily beater...

Actually, I have a small headgasket leak on the back of the motor from a 1x1 head stud install (Pruven), wonder if its even worth it to do a leak test...if it's leaking oil, it's leaking air....opinions?

mine were bad at 42k so at 63k id be very surprised if yours are not bad.... but if yours arent leaking then thats a good sign your car was garaged all its life.

i would still do the leak test ..... i dont think the heads going to leak all that much to cripple the leak test. you should tell them to fix it the right way now .... 1x1 never holds up.

The pcv on the manifold side is garbage, after a few miles this thing is pretty much open, clogged with gunk or whatever(useless) ...I personally experienced a clogged pcv and replaced with one that holds well past 30psi. This is something easily overlooked.

Boost leak tests are awesome! Keeps your car on top of its game and your turbo enjoys them as well since it no longer has to try as hard to make/maintain boost pressure
