Shep conversion help

I'm currently getting a shep conversion completed. I talked to shep and they said they could knock off about $300 off of the $450 conversion kit price if I get a shifter and cables myself. Any suggestions? will I need to get a different shifter bracket for the shifter if I pick up a 5 spd short throw? I have the 6spd right now and I'm not sure what parts can be reused. I'm trying to save as much as possible since the stage 2 trans and stage 2 tc are going to set me back alot! any suggestions?

you'll need the shifter assembly and the cables from a 5 speed. you'll also need the under-hood brackets for the cables

So I would need the 5spd assembly? couldn't just get a short throw?
